I’ve only been to Melvin a couple of times, but it’s already clear how genuine and generous he is—not just with his talent, but in the way he cares about people. Unlike most salon experiences where small talk can feel exhausting, conversations with Melvin are effortless and real, making the whole experience refreshing. Not keen to reply to a prompt to leave a 5 star review Wasn’t impressed! Got to the salon as scheduled. Closed again. sat outside, wet hair , extensions removed and drove home after 15 mins Not one call that day from a staff member or txt to say “sorry urgent we had to close can we offer you another time I would at least expect some sort of decent comms considering he knew my extensions were being removed and a bit upset it was my birthday dinner the next day. I had to send a message via Facebook. The next day (of my booked appointment ) I received a txt regarding the urgent need to close which ended with ,“ Anyways sorry Despite my understanding of why , there was no offer to fix the situation or rebook. After the tone of the txt I didn’t even ask. This is the second time I was left standing Professionalism and excellent customer service is imperative in business. Follow ups and courtesy calls I think go a long way, instead of a care free oh well sorry about it vibe “ Anyways sorry? I would have been happy to go elsewhere from the start if it was suggested rather than spend money for that type of treatment Always happy to pay for a good experience. Sadly I didn’t get that here
I came to this salon based on these reviews and left in literal tears. Melvin told me I had 'too many shades" in my hair to colour it. He even suggested that It was box dye. He then told me he had to do test strands which I completely understand and can appreciate, however he took a fat chuck from the top of my scalp and another from the front and another from the bottom (so basically half my head) he then told me it didn't lift to what he wanted and he wasn't going to do what I asked for. I was upset but understood, I asked if he could do anything similar or had suggestions. He said "no" and was incredibly rude and told me it was impossible. so I asked if he could just cover the test strands and I'd leave. He covered it with a colour that did not match or look anything like before (i've inserted pictures of test strand and fixed work and what my hair looked like before Melvin). Keep in mind I booked a cut as well and he didn't even offer to do that. He was so rude to me to the point where I cried, and I was nothing but kind and understanding. He did not even dry my hair properly before telling me I could leave. He also pulled my hair incredibly hard when rinsing his botched work out. Cost me $600 to fix what he did and get what I wanted (which by the way Melvin was actually possible and my hair is healthy and in tact ). The hairdresser who fixed my hair was appalled by the "test strand" placement and the cover up job. To the point she asked me if I was sure I went to a licensed hairdresser. Marvin was amazing - he took the time to ask questions to understand what I wanted and gave me the perfect result!! He was super attentive and skilled. I’ll definitely be back - would highly recommend :)
Melvin is amazing 🎉 Melvin makes you feel so special. The Salon is very homely friendly just a place that gives you pampering on another level. Finally found my favourite hairdresser ❤️

I came in for a blow wave with Holly at Hair intentions & she really looked after me☺️, Holly did exactly what I asked for and the blow wave is still looking perfect days later! Holly was so lovely & professional I felt like I was in the best hands! Am looking forward to coming again xx

Been seeing Melvin for about a year now, and my hair looks and feels the best it ever has, it is in the healthiest state it could possibly be in despite the regular touch ups, not only is his service amazing but he holds up a pretty good conversation and I absolutely love it!!! Hair is one of our greatest accessories and he handles it with so much care ❤️
Honestly, I had a good experience with Melvin and was mostly happy with my haircut. However, I wish he would let his work speak for itself rather than bribe customers to leave 5 star reviews. Really disappointing 🫤

I recently moved to Auckland and was very impressed with the care and the manner . Melvin listened to what I wanted and at the end , cut to perfection and styles to my wishes . I’ll go back in 5 weeks for my next appointment, already made . A thrilled client.
I have been to SO many hairdressers and I honestly have to say that Melvin is incredible. He listened to and delivered exactly what I wanted, was upfront with pricing ( which compared to other salons I’ve been to was extremely reasonable), and was also such a nice guy. His apprentice Holly also gave me the best wash and blow dry! I walked away super happy with my hair which for me is actually rare. Without doubt will make this my regular go to salon x
